The Destructors
- London
- Old Misery’s House
- Ironic setting due to the fact that the house has survived the “blitz” bombing during WWII. This historic event acts as foreshadowing indicating that destruction will be a focal point the short story.

How I Met My Husband
- Between a rural and suburban setting in America
- Setting shapes her character and her curiosity as she delves into a wealthier and less rural lifestyle.

Interpreter of Maladies
- India, traveling to the Sun Temple, 1980s.
- Mrs. Das finds herself in a foreign place. This allows the character to open up, move outside the constraints while not affecting her life at home.

The main characters of The Destructors is T. (Trevor) He was a gang member who ends up taking over the gang from Blackie because he comes up with an idea to destroy the Old Misery's (Mr. Thomas) house. T. can be described as quiet and creative living in the city. He is middle-lower class. Although T. is the main character, the most symapthtic people in the story are Blackie and Mr. Thomas.

Edie is the main character in "How I Met My Husband." She is a "hired girl" who works for Mr. and Mrs. Peebles- rich people living the "country life." She can be described as simple, uneducated, and naive... illustrated in her experience with Chris Watters. Edie is sympathetic because she is vulnerable and innocent.

Mr. Kapasi is the main character in Interpreter of Maladies. He is also the most sympathetic. He is 46 years old, has receding silver hair and is an Indian tour guide on Saturdays and Sundays. He is a doctors interpreter on other days. He has a tanned and unlined complexion and is interested in Mrs. Das. Mr. and Mrs. Das are young. They have three children(Tina, Ronnie, and Bobby). They are the children of Indians but grew up in America. They live in New Brunswik, NJ. They act more as brouther and sister to their children instead of parents. Mrs. Das is short, large, impatient and complaining. Mr. Das is a science teacher.
